RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategic

  • Contribute to the future direction, strategy, and operations of the company’s business. This includes providing proactive leadership, leading and coaching teams towards delivering the operational targets.
  • Ensure the company’s activities are professionally managed. This includes governance guidelines, risk management, internal control, customer service and business development.
  • Review and improve the department’s managerial structure: org chart, headcount budget, procedures, KPI’s etc. to boost productivity and service delivery.
  • Develop a working culture for the operations department aligned with the company’s vision, mission & core values.

Operational

  • Lead and continuously develop the operations function.
  • Provide guidance to the operations, technical and HSSE teams and communicate a clear understanding of job responsibilities, objectives, deadlines and performance expectations.
  • Monitor day-to-day operations to support the strategic objectives of the company.
  • Uphold the highest HSSE standards.
  • Assist with contingency planning and crisis management.
  • Contribute to incident investigations and support all safety programs.
  • Together with peers, develop local market expertise, intelligence and contacts and play an active part in key account management and development.
  • Support and contribute to the application of technology and systems used for improving the port’s efficiency and deliver first class customer service.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service both internal and external.
  • Set objectives and manage performance of the function and all its components. Cascade individual KPI’s down the operations department, ensuring all are working towards the same goals.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of key managers and successors within the operations function.
  • Own the department’s annual budget, be on top of the variable costs and make cost conscious decision.
  • Manage projects supporting the port’s optimization.
  • Responsible for promoting innovation, awareness and adoption of new tools and technology-enabled work practices that will improve productivity and effectiveness.

 

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Completed post-graduate studies in port and/or terminal management, maritime or relevant technical or business field.
  • Fluent English and Vietnamese are required.
  • +10 years of experience in similar position.
  • Solid understanding of modern terminal operations and terminal management systems.
  • Proven management skills especially regarding team improvement, performance management, coaching, giving feedback and motivating teams and individuals.
  • Strategic thinker, able to prepare and execute new solutions.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional cooperation capabilities. Team player and team leader.
  • Can-do attitude, unquestionable integrity, passion for shipping, service delivery mindset.
  • Leadership skills include project management, change management and adapting to new conditions.
  • Solid understanding of the shipping industry end-to-end and an ability to relate with shipping companies, consignees, associated parties and authorities.
  • Experience in cost and productivity optimization through process optimization, as well as design and implementation of new operation procedures.
